Training Description:

Nonviolent Communication was developed during the 1960s in direct response to anti-Semitism

and anti-Black racism. The principles of NVC are heavily influenced by the Gandhian principle of

nonviolence and the work of Martin Luther King Jr., focusing on fostering compassionate,

empathetic connection rather than blame or judgment. Nonviolent communication is a proven

strategy for effecting positive change in organizations, interpersonal relationships, and one’s own

internal experience. NVC principles have been used effectively to combat echo chambers, reach

across political divides, and even deprogram cult members. In our polarized society, these skills are

needed more than ever.

Speaker:

Tina Taylor is a Registered Nurse with her Masters in Counseling. She owns Stress Solutions LLC, a private

practice in Corvallis, Oregon, where her consulting centers on NVC. She has also worked as a mediator in the

Small Claims Court, and spent 10 years teaching NVC to inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary. She is a

dancer and yogini, a speaker and writer, and is passionate about bringing NVC to you in a fun, grounded, and

practical way.
